Just a small update from my time spent in San Jose.

Accommodation

We found a great deal for a very nice hotel online. In Zürich I was once in a hotel of the same brand (not for sleeping, just a training) and the service there was excellent. And my expectations didn’t come short, our stay here in San Jose at the Four Points by Sheraton was very fancy.

I slept in the most comfortable bed in America for me so far. And one night we even let our food be delivered to our room – just because we can. I think the prices might have been that low because nobody wants to stay at a hotel over thanksgiving – good for us =)

San Diego Sharks

I have found the NHL team I’ll be rooting for from now on: The San Jose Sharks. The Silicon Valley is not far from San Jose, you could even count San Jose as part of it, thus it makes sense for someone like me to choose a team from around this area.

My choice fell on the Sharks because in my second live NHL game the Sharks played against the Chicago Blackhawks. And you must have seen your favorite team play live at least once. The Sharks obliterated the helpless birds (it was a very interesting game, both teams played some good hockey, the Sharks were just a little bit more efficient). Before the game, I bought a Sharks cap and my team might have felt their new gained support and they rose to new heights and won consequently the game.

After the game, we took a lift with a Lyft (Uber alternative). For both the rides to and from the stadium we spent about the same we would have spent for the parking =)

Black Friday

The day after Thanksgiving is the Black Friday. As you might know this Friday is known to have crazy low prizes and shops filled with people looking for the best deals. This year Fabio and I were a part of this crowd. The first stores opened the evening before with their Black Friday deals. The limiting factor for us wasn’t our budget but the space available to transport the clothes and other stuff we bought.

On average, the shopping malls we visited were about as crowded as the Lago on an average Saturday. Only the queues in front of a few shops were a hint that there was something special going on. However, we weren’t there when the crazy crowds raided the electronic and toy shops because there was nothing of interest for us on sale. But we might have missed rude people fighting about reduced articles. Luckily, we have YouTube for this.
