San Francisco

Alcatraz

It doesn’t depend if you ask me or the internet, the number one attraction in San Francisco is Alcatraz. From 1934 to 1963 this isle in the bay of San Francisco housed the most dangerous criminals of America. You most probably have seen it in a movie or video game as the scenery of this ex-prison is unique. Like all the prisoners you must take a ferry to the island. They have a very educating audio-tour through the cell blocks and you hear the stories of the most awesome escape attempts. Really, a must see for everyone that visits San Francisco!

Golden Gate Bridge

The one thing everyone recognizes about San Francisco is the Golden Gate Bridge. The walk across this bridge was very rewarding. It offers a view over San Francisco and Alcatraz to its left and the Oakland Bay Bridge in the background.

San Francisco

We decided to take a bus tour instead of discovering the city on our own. San Francisco is a town built on hills. The only part of the town that is flat was artificially filled up. The city has a very rich and diverse history despite dating only back in the 1840s. People from all over the world came to San Francisco hoping for gold but only a few very lucky enough to make a fortune.

There is such a vast amount of nice little things in San Francisco that I can’t begin to rank them and present them to you. A few of them are mentioned in the pictures below. But the rest are only available offline from me in person over a glass of beer/wine/whiskey/whisky/water.

Over all San Francisco offers a lot for tourists and it was nice to walk in the town of Monk my favorite detective of my childhood =)
